Cayuga Park and Playground

Cayuga Park is located in a neighborhood a little south of City College's main campus and Balboa Bart, which the locals call Cayuga Terrace. Google-map "Cayuga Playground San Francisco. From the Ocean/ Geneva exit off 280 (take the Geneva branch), proceed on Geneva past San Jose to Cayuga Ave, turn southwest (right) on Cayuga and proceed to the dead end. From Balboa Bart, do the same as above on foot. Takes about 20 minutes from BART on foot.

Cayuga Terrace is a peaceful family neighborhood at the very south end of SF. The Islais creek, now under Cayuga Avenue, is buried but its presence can still be felt, especially when the winter rains are heavy and a mini-geyser blows the manhole cover off at the corner of Cayuga and Modoc Avenue. Around the small playing field/turfed area of Cayuga park are slopes, reminders of the lake that once existed in this location. The park is still surprisingly damp, which makes the job of watering easier but the turf a bit lumpy. For more information on our neighborhood, visit the Cayuga Improvement Association (CIA) site. The operatives encourage neighbors to join!
